Fudcon is over…

This is now the time to pack our stuff and go back. My flight was cancelled because I was connecting in Chicago but I was lucky enough to call Air Canada and got a flight the same day, connecting in Toronto!

My luggages are completely full : 50lbs for my check-in and 20lbs for my carry-on! A big thank you to everyone that made it possible for me to bring back swags, media and the two beautiful vertical banners back for the Canadian Event Box. I will post pictures of them soon.

I had a very good time in the past 4 days at Fudcon. Meeting so many great people and talking about what passionate us is a dream come true. It will be hard to go back on talking on IRC and mailing list but at the same time, I think it will make the understanding easier. I was at the dinner with Jared (yes, it was me the French-Canadian ;)) and what he said is true, the need of meeting face-to-face is really important.

Seeing such a huge amount of passionate people gave me a big motivation push to continue my work on the Ambassadors and Packaging teams. What I hope is to distribute this motivation back during the following year to encourage more people to start contributing to the Fedora Project.

So, thanks to the Fedora Project for giving me the opportunity to meet a part of the community and the chance to make my own contribution! See you at the next Fudcon!

Fudcon, day 2

Second day of Fudcon is now over. It was a really productive day for me, having get many media from Clint, some more swags from Ben and two Fedora vertical banners from Ben and Larry! I hope everything will fit my luggage so I can bring all this in Canada with me!

The conferences in the morning were really nice, especially the introduction on Inkscape made by Mairin Duffy. She was right, after the conference, I at least understand enough about Inkscape to be able to do some basic mockup in it!

In the afternoon, Fudcon got a new feature : lightning talks! It was really nice to see people talk about something they love in 5 minutes.

After that, it was the hackfest time. I take the opportunity to go outside to work on my projects, so I can take at least a little bit of sun before returning to Quebec!

In the evening, the hack room was full with many things going on : talk, hacking, board games, poker, etc. It was a really good time, but maybe I should have got to bed earlier 😉

Now looking forward to the full hackfest day tomorrow!

Fudcon Tempe, day 1

The first day of Fudcon is over. Many great conferences and many good discussions on all things related to Fedora.

This day let me meet many people that I work with on IRC or mailing list, so, that was nice to finally meet face to face and have a good talk. Also, I had the chance to speak French a little bit, having met with Xavier from the Fedora France team and also with David from Montreal.

The Fudpub event was really nice. Having the chance to talk about Fedora in front of a good beer with many great people is really nice. Also, this is a great occasion to have more personal talk with people than we have on IRC for example.

I look forward on day 2 of Fudcon!

Fudcon Tempe!

I finally got to my hotel room after some problems with my flights. Already had the time to talk in person with many peoples I have seen for long on IRC. The welcome party is running and many people already show up for some drinks and food.

Lot of great conversations already and many more to come. I will keep this blog updated!

Leaving for Fudcon Tempe!

I am currently at the Quebec Airport, waiting for my plane to leave to Chicago where I will take a connection to Phoenix. I should be at the hotel at around 13:30-14:00 MST. It’s currently -13C here in Quebec and it should be 20C when I got to Phoenix 😉

Also, if someone need to room share, I should have a place for you. I will hang out in the lobby when I got to the hotel, so we should meet there!

I look forward to meet you later today!
